  • Spam posts (adult, meds, warez, etc.)

If you see a post that is clearly spamming pornography, pharmaceuticals, pirated media or other inappropriate content, please do not reply to it. Either use the report button or send a private message to any moderator who is online.

Despite the filters used to stop spammers and bots signing up to the forum, there is always a few that sneak through, usually in the middle of the night when we aren't around. We will remove them as soon as we see them or are notified. Replying to them just draws more attention to them which is what they want and only encourages other members to look.

Try to resist the temptation to open such threads and I'd strongly advise anyone who does fall to temptation not to click on any links posted in it as you never know what trojan / malware sites they will lead to.

Thanks for everyone's help on this matter.

is there a way to give TRUSTED members (1-2) that are on alot, the power to lock/delete threads, the one yesterday was up for some time, but noone was available to delete it, not asking for more mods, just someone who has authority to delete reported posts if no mods are on..

I'm on quite a lot both during the day and late at night and often wish I was able to delete these things.

It's such a shame this stuff goes on as it ruins the WWW in general for kids. My son loves reading through the posts on here but at 8yo he doesn't understand why I insist on checking things first.

Once they've seen those sorts of things you can't take it back and they never forget it.

Maybe requiring a minimum number of posts before being able to post pictures would help??
If it swims it's good, if it's Sahul it's better!

Yea I have reported alot of these post lol.
Even having a 2 post minimum for posting pictures will keep most spammers away. Most newbies wont know how to post a photo and their first 2 post could be about photo uploading so shouldnt interfer with new members much.
If someone is given the power to delete threads should also make sure the mods can see what they have deleted, to check if said person has deleted any legit post/threads.

If you reply to the spam post, it actually makes it harder to remove.

Please just click the exclamation mark in the triangle at the top of the BAD post, this sends out a pm/email to mods to make us all aware.

We will then deal with it when we can.

                  Cheers

A friendly reminder to all not to post in spam threads. No matter how tempting it is to add a witty comment, please resist the urge to post as all you are doing is helping the spammer.

                      Just to bump this

Please don't reply to spammer posts ( which for some reason we are getting heaps )

Click the little triangle with exclamation mark instead and report it.
All mods get an email and can sort it out quickly

Cheers to the people that are doing this already , you are helping keep the forum clean .

I have been reporting at least one a day. We must be a popular site or have the make-up of people that matches their target audience.
                        Planted Community Jungle.
                        Planted RCS Vase.

Compared to other forums, we do pretty well in managing spam I think. They come through occasionally and are blatantly obvious, so it's no issue for me.

I am guilty of replying to one though, because I thought I was being funny I won't do this anymore..

Ah, that's where it is. I saw a few yesterday and was trying to report them - but couldn't see how to do it.
