Thread: aquatopia aquarium = juwel aquarium?

Default aquatopia aquarium = juwel aquarium?

    Hi Folks,

I bought a 2nd tank 4+yrs ago now, and as you can probably guess by the title, itís an Aquatopia. Does anybody know if these tanks are basically Juwel tanks?

The reason Iím asking is I want to replace the 2x 39w T5s with LEDs. The current unit has a Rehau sticker on the bottom. Whenever I search ĎRehau + aquariumí I seem to end up with results with Juwel tanks. Iím hoping I can replace the T5s by dropping in the Juwel Helialux spectrum fitting and keep the exterior look the same.

It would be great if someone can confirm that the parts are interchangeable.

    Thanks

I don't know anything about aquatopia but own several juwel tanks. I doubt they are interchangeable. Why don't you contact the customer care for both brands and ask them?

    Thanks for the reply.

I canít find any info for Aquatopia or Rehau. The only been able to find is this link to a Rehau tank that is my tank, except in white:

EDIT: the links to the pictures donít seem to have worked. Iíll try again soon

I have a few pictures of the labels at the bottom of the T5 lighting unit. Sorry about the quality. I wonder if the Juwel units have the same, or a similar labels

    Hey Nufan.

I had a look at the link. Your tank looks exactly the same as a Juwel rio 180. The cabinet is different though.

    https://www.juwel-aquarium.de/en/Pro...-navigationbar

It also has the same dimensions at 101cm L x 41cm W x 50cm H. The lights should be interchangeable as well.

Since the dimensions of the tanks are the same the Jewel tank has a newer hood with LED lights which could fit on your current tank. However it would be expensive as opposed to getting a new LED light.

The Jewel light might be expensive you could also look at alternatives like a Chihiros or Make my led light.

    Thanks Monty,

Thatís what I thought was the case, I was just after a 2nd opinion.

I have since found this thread started by Happyfins in 2017:

The Juwel Helialux is what I was looking at replacing my T5s with, but theyíre a little pricey!!

Are you looking at something like this?

    https://www.seaviewaquarium.com.au/s...ctrum-led-1000

If so then yeah very expensive. They look similar to Fluval plant 3.0 and very similarly priced too.

You can find a lot of alternative light units for a lot cheaper but it's up to you on how much your are willing to spend.

If you are handy, DIY would be fine although depending on your colour tastes and needs....

Will need to waterproof and heatsink the LEDS. Your hood will need active ventilation.
