Default Dwarf Gourami on bottom of tank, breathing heavy

    Hello All,
Ive been a member here for a while, but i think this is my first post.

I have a unhappy looking dwarf gourami that is sitting on the bottom of the tank, and breathing heavy. The fish will swim around normally for a while, 1-2mins, the go back to the same spot at the back of the tank for about the same amount of time. The other dwarf gourami is fine, as are the tetras, guppies, and cory dora. I usually run CO2, but ive stopped it, and added an airstone instead.

Is there anything else i can do?

    water parameters:

    PH 6.8-7
    Amm 0ppm
    Nitrite 0ppm
    *Nitrate 20ppm

The nitrate level is deliberate. Iím dosing potassium nitrate to keep a BGA problem i had at bay. Its been up to 40ppm, and fish were fine.

It could be literally anything from infection, cancer, constipation, toxicity etc etc.

    Any external changes? Pics?

    Can you isolate it?

Thanks for the reply. The fish hasn’t improved. The fish still has moments of activity, then moving to the back of the tank, and doing as described earlier, and in the video. The only change was a water change about a week beforehand. The water parameters listed in the first post was from that water.

Poor fellow looks terminal. My suggestion is to euthanase it.

Otherwise isolate and treat with some meds if you got them.

Sorry to see him like that.

It was a pretty sudden turn. What meds are available?

But I think he is far too gone.
