I once put 50+ NQAS in a 2ft that was VERY algae infested. 24 hours later there wasn't a spec of algae haha. Those little guys are BEASTS. They will eat anything, including fish food. Mine used to swim out with the fish during feeding times... They are not very shy I find

Mulberry leaves would definitely be useful for feeding them though. Reminds me... Need to get myself a mulberry pot

P.S - Tank looks great man.

@Indir, you should buy a grow tent for that mulberry 'pot'.

well, algae is still existent, though the algae shrimp are almost all full size now too and its a lot less.
working on the root of the problem at the moment with slow adjustments.

just noticed about 8 baby panda corydoras, so now ive got no idea how many are in the tank

yellow cherry shrimp population is around 30 now too

Wait, Cories can breed in our tanks? Why do I just have this idea that it wasn't possible?

I'm actually considering adding to my NQ Algae shrimp populations too.

    Ill snap some tonight Rebel

My Blyxa Japonica needs a heavy trim also, its almost taking up a whole 1/6th of the tank.
I like to call it the anemone of the planted word as my shrimp love it, and my cories love to spawn in it.

As for the algae, the next step is to raise the lights a little, though the way they are mounted makes it a bit tedious.
A space on the top side of frame might be the go to temporarily while im testing everything.

Seems ive also lost all but 1 of my otos they never survive past a few months.

    Same here.

I would suggest nerite snails if possible. They do crawl out of my tank but I just plonk it back in the mornings. So far so good. Only problem is that I had to pay $25 for mine. I think Aquagreen sells em for $8!

hmm, may need to look into Nerites then.
I loved my otos, but they always hid and come out at night onto the front of the tank.
    its a shame.

id need a few nerites for a 4x2x2 to be effective. might try get 5 or so if i go down that path.

Ive got euro bracing, this might help keep them in?

Whats wrong with Otos? I'm glad to learn this now they are the next on my list. Might not purchase them if they are a hard fish to keep.

hey jonny, they are easy to keep once they are stable in a tank, its usually difficult due to the way they are caught and imported. the processes are horrid.
if you do buy them, order them in to your LFS, and try leave them there for a few weeks as theyll usually die in that time, and if the longer they survive in bad conditions (or worse than a personal tank) the better luck youll have keeping them

I reckon you'd only need about 10% Nerites for same effect. NErites also eat GSA which is better than otos. But I agree with you, I loved having 5 in my 2 footer when they schooled together in the front glass at night.
