    Default Sulawesi Shrimp

    Hi AL,

Just wondering whether anyone is keeping these little beauties. I saw them in a pet store (sort of like Pet Barn in a non descript mall!! ) in Italy (2015) for a few bucks and the image has been stuck with me ever since. They are simply stunning!

Any pics to share from your tanks?

Thinking these will stay underground for a while longer.

There is at least 6 varieties of sula’s available in Australia as of last year. Very secret society, but are available

Guy on gumtree Perth selling all varieties (not cheap though) as one would expect. But white gloves are now down to $50 each

    Have you got any?

My work tank has sand and Sieryu which is pushing the kH up. I have increased the Gh to match up to 5. Temperature is about 25 and stable. As you can imagine, you can guess what I am getting at.....

I saw him. $120 others. Ironically, I prefer the white gloves.... Hopefully they get down to $20 or so.

FM3, I thought you'd be all over these by now. Breeding program?

I am really hoping we can also get in on the action. They 'may' be easier than CRS and they almost look better!

I'm a massive fan of the cardinals. Some of the spots look blue on the web- not sure if this is just the lighting but it would be cool to have the bright red with popping blue spots all over it.

Ive seen these in Italy. The spots were white but the shrimp were wine red colour. They looked super classy.

Believe it or not, they had great planted tanks in this general pet store.

Nah mate, not interested in anything that requires modification to my tap water (KISS principle for me) and shrimp to me are just cleanup crew

I saw that too, was only a matter of time before they surfaced. AQIS is it's own worst enemy as I remember being part of a group with Dave Wilson trying to get an import assessment together. They pose no ecological threat to Australia but the paperwork was so deep and ridiculous that we never finished it. I'm all for biosecurity but when the process is designed to prevent everything being legally imported, you're actually compromising biosafety because smugglers are always going to fill the demand. And if our import risk assement process actually worked, green prawns with white spot disease would never entered the country and made it into our waters.

Hiya Brushy, agree with you. That's the reason I don't respond to that topic.

In theory, Sulawesi would be a perfect shrimp to keep. Just add some coral rubble to the filter and off you go. Much easier than CRS by a mile although I don't know their temperature tolerances. Do they really need 28 which is a little on the high side?

Ha ha, I'm in Nth Qld so 28 oC is ambient water temperature for all but the extremes of the season. Which makes my obsession with CRS quite insane
