Really like it mate! Rock formation is well done for a quickie and will def be easy to maintain as it is currently

Where did you purchase the DIY led setup?

Thanks dude. The top rock is removable so I can get my hand in there.

The LED are 8520 strips that I had lying around at home. From ebay; search for rigid 8520 led strip. About $5 or less. The heatsink is from another project that I was 'doing' last year.... and perhaps never completed.

Is the led 8520 able to provide the lighting required for plant growth?

Easily for this tank. I will probably need to dim it! Remember that this tank is very shallow.

If you are buying LED strips though, 5630 is best. The 8520 was left over from an experiment from last year. I will use it until my 5630 with CRI > 90 arrive. I plan to DIY a more neat solution with more light spread and a dimmer.

I took a few quick shots for you Rebel!

The mini pelia has been doing outstanding, note this tank is low light (stock LED), non CO2 and low nutrient water as I use rainwater with GH powder for the taiwan bees. It is also low maintenance as I do a 20% water change every 2-3weeks.

Also either algae doesn't grow or the shrimps take care of it.

The monte carlo has only been added for 2 weeks, it's doing well.

I have a few other plants in there to test how well they would do in the Fluval Edge. I found that ambulia, anubias and buce do fine. However dwarf hair grass has not grown at all.

Hey lord of destruction, that looks fantastic! Good luck with the blue bolts. Do you have snails in the tank? Keen buying some mini pelia and monte Carlo if it can be snail free.

Blue bolts are very happy. How much were you after? There are no visible snails in this tank.

As it's low tech, this one will be slow. I don't have a whole heap of plants for it as yet. Just trying out a few things to see what will stick. Tank is cycling at the moment. No hurry.

I have lost the UG that I attempted.

I will post another picture tomorrow.

Plant growth is slow. Tonina is struggling etc but I am not surprised as it came from a high tech tank.
