Thread: Some Apistogramma that I breed

  1. #1

Thumbs Up Some Apistogramma that I breed

Here are a few pictures of some of the Apistogramma that I breed,

    A. allpahuayo (sp. schwarzkinn)

    A. borellii 'opal

    A. baenschi

    A. iniridae

I have kept and bred fish for most of my life and have always enjoyed breeding dwarfs of various sorts, of which the Apistogramma I have a special interest in. I sold quite a few at the last Victorian EDAS and VCS auctions and plan on selling a few more at the coming EDAS auction on the 27th April. The Aquarium clubs have and still do offer me a great place to share my aquarium hobby and expand my knowledge with other fish keepers. The meetings are always interesting with speakers from various areas of fish keeping. So I hope to see more of you dwarf cichlid fans there!

Great to have you here. I have been trying to source a femal for my male schwarzkinn. Where did/do you get yours from?

    Thanks regani for the welcome.

Mrs D. my A. allpahuayo were purchased through Blackburn Aquarium which has closed its doors. The wholesalers, Aquarium industries and Bayfish (Premier Pet) where the fish came from have their list of fish available on their web sites. A good aquarium can get them in for you, although they won't guarantee a female. A. allpahuayo is sold as A. juruensis. Do a search and find the list of fish available for Aquarium Industries and you'll see A. juruensis available, Bayfish have some nice fish too.

    Very very nice apistos.

Looking at your comments above, have you sourced apistos from Bay and AI before (am assuming via an order from your LFS and not direct)? What's the quality been like?

From both actually via a LFS, both the German and wild stock is what I order and the fish have been very good quality
