Now ... fisrtly, I do wonder if moderators should be allowed to participate but since nobody has told me they are not, here's a snapshot of my tank.

    It's a 6x2x2 (180Gal) tank with the following parameters:

    kH: 6.5
    pH: 6.7
    gH: 9

    In there I have:
    Aponogeton vanbruggeni
    Pogostemon stellatus
    Vallisneria Nana (native)
    Wysteria
    Ambulia
    Anubias Nana
    Anubias barteri
    Cryptocoryne wendtii (green)
    Cryptocoryne wendtii (red Mi-Oya)
    Cryptocoryne blassi
    Cryptocoryne balansae
    Rotala macrandra
    Rotala mexicana
    Rotala rotundiflora
    Hygrophila siamensis
    Echinodorus red horemanii
    Echinodorus Ozelot Red Flame
    Echinodorus tenellus
    Echinodorus barthii (Red Melon)
    Micranthemum umbrosum (baby tears)

I fertilise daily with 20mL of a mix containing the following in each 500mL:
    15 Gram Trace Mix
    55 Gram MgSO4
    25 Gram K2SO4
    20 Gram KN03
    3 Gram Chelated Fe

The substrate is a 3cm layer of unwashed gravel with JBL Florapol mixed in 1:5. On top of that is another 7 or 8 cm washed plain gravel and some Dinosaur Dung tablets near roots of heavy root feeders like crypts and swords.

Filtration is a Fluval FX5 with Eheim media (EfiMech and EfiSubstrat Pro)
I also run a 36W UV Steriliser on the tank

Lighting is a 3 x 150W Metal Halide (10,000K) light for 10 hours plus another 100W of 10,000k Fluoro on 12 hours, creating a sunrise / sunset effect.

I also have pressurised CO2 via a JBL Proflora Profi3 set and a 6Kg BOC bottle.

Inhabitants are almost all native Rainbows except some SAEs, Bristle noses and some PNG Rainbows (Incisus and Bosemani)

Apologies for the poor quality photo - will do better later

    Ari

Thanks to all of you who voted for my tank. The other tanks submitted were excellent so the choice must have been very close.
Again, thanks a lot. I will certainly use the prize to get some nice plants.

Thanks for the kind words guys.
As per usual, I was ipatient getting the photo in before all the plants had grown out well. This is mainly on the right side where the Berry Creek Pogostemon was only a couple of weeks old.

It has now grown well and displays the most fantastic colours.
I got the pogo from Dave at Aquagreen as well as several other native plants in there. The more I use native plants and fish, the more I like it.
I often wonder why it is that the Australian market seems so focused on imported fish and plants when we have this great selection of natives.

    Regards

    Ari

Congratulations apalsson. Very nice looking tank. I'm placing my order with Aquagreen this weekend so I hope my plants will be as good looking as yours.

    Nice work.

Awoken to 25 posts of spam, or pretty darn close to, why, why would anyone be bothered? The only thread you missed was the "G'day Mate" one, rolls eyes!
